In the code editor, Save keeps your code and tells you to press Start Code to run it. If the code has an error it is still kept, the error shows in the editor, the status bar and the Inspector, and that script does nothing until it is saved without errors, so old code never keeps running by mistake.
The Inspector's event picker lists the common events first, each with a line on when it runs: every frame, a key press, a click, a beat of the music or a collision. A new tutorial, 'Make something happen on a key press or click', walks you through it.
When you save a script again, its dispose() runs first, so what the old version made is cleaned up. Claude knows the same events and the same clean-up rule when it writes code for you over MCP.
